Purpose

WildFlow Adventures is committed to being an active agent of positive change in the Azores by promoting the region as a sustainable adventure tourism destination. The purpose of this policy is to establish clear guidelines to support sustainable development, ensuring that our practices protect the environment, respect local culture, and benefit the communities where we operate. This policy will be shared with our entire team, partners, and stakeholders to encourage collective responsibility.

Scope

This policy applies to all of our land-based adventure activities, including canyoning, hiking, and nature tours, as well as to all areas of our business operations. Our partners and suppliers are gradually integrated into this sustainability commitment, ensuring that our values extend throughout our supply chain. A dedicated Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and updating this policy.

Sustainability Management & Legal Compliance

Our management team is fully committed to placing sustainability at the core of our decision-making, strategies, and operations. We continuously monitor and evaluate our actions, updating our policy at least every two years to reflect progress and improvements.

We comply with all local, regional, national, and international regulations related to labor, human rights, child protection, environmental management, and land use. Our company follows a strict Code of Ethics, with zero tolerance for corruption, bribery, forced labor, discrimination, or exploitation in any form.

Internal Management: Social Policy & Human Rights

Our core values are trust, honesty, respect, loyalty, professionalism, and dedication. Every team member has their rights safeguarded under Portuguese law, including the right to dignity, equality, and non-discrimination.

We are committed to promoting equal opportunities for personal and professional development. This includes fair recruitment processes, continuous training, constructive performance evaluations, and encouragement of extracurricular activities that contribute to overall well-being.

Internal Management: Environmental Responsibility

We are dedicated to minimizing the direct footprint of our operations through the following measures:

  • Compliance with environmental laws and regulations at all levels.
  • Monitoring and reducing the use of water, energy, and raw materials.
  • Procuring office and field supplies locally, seasonally, and with sustainability certification whenever possible.
  • Limiting paper usage and ensuring all printing materials are FSC-certified or equivalent.
  • Using energy-efficient lighting and equipment and ensuring they are turned off when not in use.
  • Separating and recycling waste appropriately (plastic, paper, glass).
  • Reducing noise, air, and light pollution in all activities.
Carbon Management

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by:

  • Limiting unnecessary travel and promoting remote communication whenever possible.
  • Maintaining and gradually upgrading our vehicle fleet to more efficient and electric models.
  • Promoting eco-friendly transport solutions for staff and guests.
  • Measuring and offsetting unavoidable carbon emissions.

Land Use and Destinations

Our activities are conducted within natural parks and protected landscapes. We strictly follow land-use regulations and prioritize sustainable practices in all operations. We respect cultural and natural resources and ensure our activities leave minimal impact on the environment.

Supplier Policy

We prioritize working with local suppliers and partners who share our commitment to sustainability. Preference is given to suppliers who:

  • Demonstrate clear sustainability practices or certifications.
  • Support the local economy and provide fair working conditions.
  • Respect human rights, labor laws, and environmental protection.
  • Engage in transparent, corruption-free practices.

Suppliers who violate these standards will not be considered or will have their collaboration terminated immediately.

Activities & Excursions

Our excursions are designed to celebrate and protect Azorean culture and biodiversity. We do not support or offer activities that harm humans, wildlife, or the environment. Instead, we collaborate with scientific and conservation projects, ensuring that our guests not only enjoy an adventure but also learn about the natural and cultural richness of the islands.

Guides and Team Development

We invest in the training and development of local guides, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver safe, authentic, and educational experiences. Guides follow a Code of Ethics, which emphasizes respect for culture, heritage, and the environment. Our team actively participates in conservation projects to protect the fragile ecosystems we operate in.

Customer Communication & Protection

We are committed to transparency in our marketing and communication. We avoid greenwashing and ensure our claims are backed by real actions. Guests are informed about the social and environmental impact of their journey and educated on responsible travel behavior.

Customer protection is also a priority. We follow a clear Privacy Policy and ensure that personal data is handled securely, with full legal compliance.

Effective Date & Revision

This policy is effective as of October, 2025 and will be reviewed annually. All employees, partners, and stakeholders are responsible for upholding its principles, with oversight led by the Sustainability Coordinator.
